Inception-
Sou. Vijayadevi Yadav English Medium School, a small sapling, planted in 2011 has flowered into an eight year old young plant, it has to grow, and keep growing, to be 100 and beyond, and live forever…The founders Pappasaheb- Shri Vijaysinh Yadav, Aaisaheb- Smt. Vijayadevi Yadav, Mr. Gulabrao Pol Sir and Mrs. Vidyatai Pol Ma’am overcame numerous hurdles and started the school with just 81 students. The initial days of admission process were full of hardships. The founders literally went from door to door seeking admissions. Those were the days when having a thought of an international school was something novel for the natives, so a bit strange too. Convincing parents to send their wards for studies here was a very big challenge for the founders. But they were fully determined for creating intelligence… creating lifelong learners...  All this was to create a place- seeking knowledge and freedom- through knowledge, to offer service at the feet of the immortal symbol of learning, Saraswati… and the deity of knowledge and wisdom, Lord Ganesha…

Old Campus-The school started it’s journey as Sou. Vijayadevi Yadav English Medium School in the B. Y. High School Campus. It was a long cherished dream of Aaisaheb and Pappa Saheb to start a school with Indian values as its core ingredient but with international standards that would branch out rapidly in all directions. The first Principal of the school Mrs. Shailaja Karnekar contributed greatly in the initial days of the school.

CBSE Affiliation 2012The school was specially honoured in 2012 as it was endorsed with CBSE Affiliation Certificate. Now the school was unique in real sense as it was the first of its kind in entire Peth Vadgaon.

2013- HostelTo meet the international standards, the school was renamed as Sou. Vijayadevi Yadav International School in the year 2013. As the response of students was growing positively, the same year school management decided to provide a residential facility with all necessary comforts for the students coming from far and wide. To serve this purpose a special hostel building was made available revamping a poultry farm. This initiative was well accepted and 54 students enrolled themselves for it. Today the school hostel houses 500 plus boarding boys and girls.

New School Building 2014The need for expansion and the task of building an impressive infrastructure arose resulting in the new school building. A well designed and perfectly planned learning complex that we see today came up in the year 2014. Hats off to the grit and perfectionism of Taai Ma’am who dreamt so big and all the close associates who brought that dream into reality.It was the generous contribution of Dr Cyrus Poonawalla that strengthened the efforts of school management. In return as a token of gratitude the school was renamed as Dr Cyrus Poonawalla International School in the new academic year of 2015.

Pappasaheb’s demiseSecond February 2015 is an unforgettable day for all of us. A long-standing companion, loving and understanding soul mate, Pappa saheb Shri. Vijaysinh Yadav left us forever for his heavenly abode. He was a friend, a philosopher and a guide. But with an irresistible resilient spirit we found the strength to march ahead with determination. Inspired and motivated by the memories of Pappa saheb, all hands and all heads put together their energies to see that we pull the cart in one direction…and the moving spirit moved on.

Library‘Reading promotes thinking and it’s the great thinkers who lead society on the path of success.’ With this motto our school library was built. It is one of the largest and well equipped library was inaugurated on 6th Dec 2016. It was made possible because of the generous assistance by Gaikwad family. It owes its very name Late to Chetan Gaikwad for his love for reading and learning.

LabsTo ignite the curious minds DCPIS is very well equipped with various labs. It includes Science Labs, Computer Lab, Art Lab, Social Science Lab, Robotics Lab, Composite Lab and much more. It’s the only one of its kind in entire Kolhapur region- a feature that adds charm and glory to our school.

TechnologyDCPIS believes in reinventing itself with changing needs of time. The technology cell was created which brought in wonderful new learning aids like the K-Yaan, Tata Edge, Extra Marks and Next Education programme.

ISO 2016The school was honoured in 2016 as it was endorsed with an ISO Certificate which helped us to excel and be committed in whatever it does, with love for learning and the urge to make DCPIS- a school with difference.It was the same year when DCPIS was brimming with joy of achievement. We were the only private CBSE school getting nominated for the prestigious ICT award from entire Western Maharashtra. Our dear Director Dr. Sardar Jadhav sir was specially invited for the award ceremony.

Late Shri. Vijaysinh Yadav Hostel-2017In 2017 the school’s residential section was named after late Shri. Vijaysinh Yadav for his successful innings. It is a beautiful infrastructure thoughtfully planned to make the residence of our young friends a memorable experience. The day here starts along with the daybreak and ends with the twinkling stars. An utmost care is provided to keep the minds and body perfectly fit including Agnihotra, Geeta Pathan, Yoga, Physical Exercise and the most important of all a sense of belongingness.

Playground January 2018The school playground- where we all future Dhyanchand, Sachin Tendulkar, Mery Kom, Ronaldo, Sania Mirza, Usen Bolt practice daily to bring glory to our school.  President Shri. Gulabrao Pol sir took tremendous efforts to make this dream come true in January 2018.It is one of the biggest leveled playground in entire Kolhapur region. It was officially inaugurated in the valuable presence of Padmashree Dhanraj Pillay.

ISA Nomination, British Council Award, Various Personalities VisitCountless great personalities have visited to appreciate the efforts taken by the school management. It includes Dr. Bhatkar- Father of Computer, Air Marshal Shri. Ajit Bhonsle, Shri. Sandip Suryawanshi- Indian Forest Services, Shri. V. S Chougule -Retd. Dy. S. P., Padmashri Dhanraj Pillay- Olympian, Ex Captain-Indian Hockey Team, Shri. Rajendra Sapkal, Mr. Yukio Uchida -Consulate General of Japan, Mrs. Saroj Patil- Social leader, Shri. Jadhav- Hon'ble Justice, Civil & Criminal Court, Peth Vadgaon and many more…Many awards and nominations are bestowed upon the school for its unique achievements. The most prominent among them was the British Council Award 2017. The school was accredited for outstanding development of the international dimension in the curriculum. The school established a benchmark- a cut above the rest.Great actor and philanthropist Padmshri Nana Patekar visited the school to inaugurate the beautifully designed Staff Room. He appreciated the school management and staff for being dedicated and innovative.

Vision in reach-It is this very dauntless attitude which has brought us this far. The DCPIS tree deeply rooted in our age-old wisdom, our culture and tradition, nurtured with loving care and devotion will continue to grow. It will touch new heights and spread its branches and it continue to attract birds of every hue and colour, providing them shelter and shade… providing them the nectar of knowledge which gives them freedom… freedom to soar high in the sky… to go out in search of new horizons… to spread the message of compassion and universal brotherhood…  with a vision of unify the whole world as one family so as to emerge cultured, responsive, creative and successful global citizens who are ready to make important contribution to the world around us.

Change in School Name-The year 2024 marked a significant milestone in the school’s journey. The institution was officially renamed from Sou. Vijayadevi Yadav English Medium School to Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla International School, reflecting a new phase of growth and vision. This change was formally approved by CBSE vide Letter No. CBSE/1130439/CN-00028-2526/2025-26/, dated 20 May 2024. The new name symbolizes the school’s commitment to excellence, global standards, and holistic development of students.
