Celebrating the Spirit of Freedom

Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla International School, Peth Vadgaon, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with immense pride, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on Saturday, 15th August 2026. The special celebration beautifully brought together the nation’s glorious past and its inspiring vision for the future, centred around the themes “150 Years of Vande Mataram” and “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat @2047.”
The themes served as a powerful reminder of India’s remarkable journey—from the courage and sacrifice that shaped our freedom struggle to the aspirations of a young and dynamic nation determined to realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the centenary year of Independence.
The Chief Guest, Hon. Mr. Tanaji Sawant, unfurled the Tricolour with due solemnity and dignity, filling the campus with a profound sense of national pride. In his address, he reflected upon India’s incredible journey as a free nation and reminded everyone that the privileges of freedom come with the responsibility of safeguarding the values that define our democracy and our national identity. He urged the students to recognise their role as the future custodians of the nation and to contribute meaningfully towards its progress.
The gathering was honoured by the presence of Dy. Collector Hon. Mr. Babasaheb Waghmode; President of SSSPSM Hon. Shri Gulabrao Pol; Vice-President Hon. Smt. Vijayadevi Yadav; Chairperson of DCPIS, Hon. Mrs. Vidya G. Pol; Principal Ms. Shivani Chavan-Potdar; Administrative Officer Mr. Sagar Patil; Chairman of AFPI Mr. Vishwas Kadam; members of the School Management; PTA representatives; parents; alumni; and well-wishers, who joined the DCPIS family in commemorating this momentous occasion.
The celebration echoed a profound message—that patriotism is not confined to a single day or a ceremonial salute; it is reflected in the way we live, act, serve and fulfil our responsibilities every day. As we look back with gratitude at the sacrifices of those who won us our freedom and look ahead with hope towards the India of 2047, let us pledge to make every moment of our freedom count.
May our nation continue to flourish in peace, prosperity, unity and harmony.
Let us celebrate our freedom with pride and serve our nation with purpose.
JAI HIND!
