Interschool Science Expo 2026–27
“Every great scientific discovery begins with a curious mind, a bold question, and the courage to explore the unknown.”
Science is not merely a subject to be studied; it is a way of thinking, questioning, discovering, and transforming the world around us. It empowers young minds to understand nature, address real-world challenges, and envision a future driven by innovation, responsibility and sustainability.
With this vision, Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla International School, Peth Vadgaon, in collaboration with Daily Lokmat, organised its much-awaited Interschool Science Expo 2026–27 on Friday, 2 October 2026, on the theme “Innovating for Biodiversity Conservation and a Sustainable Future.” The expo provided a vibrant platform for young innovators to explore scientific possibilities, demonstrate creativity, exchange ideas, and develop a deeper understanding of their responsibility towards the environment and society.
The expo was inaugurated in the august presence of Chief Guest Hon. President of SSSPSM Shri. Gulabrao Pol, Principal Ms. Shivani Chavan Potdar and Administrative Officer Mr. Sagar Patil. To mark the perfect beginning of the event, students presented a thought-provoking and eye-opening street play aligned with the theme “Innovating for Biodiversity Conservation and a Sustainable Future.” Through their powerful performances and impactful message, they highlighted the importance of protecting biodiversity, preserving natural resources and embracing sustainable practices, setting a meaningful tone for the entire expo.
The expo witnessed tremendous enthusiasm, active participation and remarkable creativity from students across different age groups and classes. Through an impressive display of static and working models, scientific experiments, innovative projects, and interactive exhibits, students brought abstract scientific concepts to life and demonstrated their understanding of how science can contribute to solving contemporary challenges.
The exhibits reflected the young learners’ curiosity, imagination, research-oriented approach and ability to connect classroom learning with real-life applications. From exploring scientific principles to presenting practical solutions, the students demonstrated that meaningful learning flourishes when curiosity is encouraged and ideas are given the freedom to grow.
The Pre-Primary section added a special charm to the expo, as its little learners enthusiastically showcased their creativity and scientific potential through age-appropriate presentations and exhibits.
The event extended beyond the boundaries of the school, welcoming participation from several schools across the district, with more than 200 static and working models on display. The interschool platform encouraged healthy academic interaction, collaborative learning, the exchange of perspectives and a shared passion for scientific discovery.
A distinctive highlight of this year’s expo was “Negoceo Nova,” the Business Idea Pitching Competition, which offered budding entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their innovative business concepts with confidence and conviction. The competition encouraged students to think beyond conventional boundaries, identify practical needs, develop entrepreneurial perspectives and communicate their ideas effectively. The enthusiastic participation and confident presentations made this initiative a remarkable success.
The Prize Distribution and Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Hon. Dr. V. N. Shinde and Hon. Shri Gulabrao Pol. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the vital role of scientific discoveries and technological advancements in the progress and development of the nation. They appreciated the creativity, originality and practical relevance of the projects presented by the students.
Hon. Shri Gulabrao Pol applauded the participants and appreciated the dedicated efforts of Team DCPIS in creating opportunities that nurture curiosity, independent thinking, scientific temper and innovative problem-solving. He encouraged the young minds to continue exploring new possibilities and to channel their knowledge and creativity towards the betterment of society and mankind.
The expo served as a meaningful learning experience, fostering self-directed learning, research-mindedness, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills. It also strengthened students’ interest in science and technology while sensitising them to the importance of biodiversity conservation, environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
The success of this mega event was made possible through the visionary leadership and collective efforts of Olympiad School Vice-Principal Ms. Ashwini Patil, Programme Coordinator Ms. Rasika Petkar, all the teachers, the Students’ Council and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff. Their meticulous planning, wholehearted dedication and tireless efforts transformed the expo into a memorable celebration of scientific inquiry and innovation.
The Interschool Science Expo was more than an exhibition of models and projects; it was a celebration of young minds daring to question, imagine, experiment and create. By bringing together schools, educators and budding innovators, the event reinforced the belief that the seeds of a sustainable future are sown through curiosity, nurtured through education and realised through innovation and collective responsibility.
